Educational tours

 

Dzibilchaltun, Progreso Beech and Uaymitun


After class visit the wonderful museum of the Mayan People and learn about their history, walk in the ancient city of Dzibilchaltun and finally refresh in the full of acuatic lilies and small colorful fish cool waters of the “xlacah” sacred well. Try delicious sea food specialities such as “pescado al mojo de ajo” or “ceviche de camaron” in a nice restaurant in front of the beach in Progreso. $37.oo USD. Leaves: 9:00 AM, Returns: 17:30 PM. No lunch included. Minor 4-10 years old only pays $32.50 USD. Days: Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.

 

Cenotes and Mayan city


Visit the recently discovered and amazing Mayan city of Ek Balam. Go wild and swim in the refreshing turquoise crystal blue waters of a water well (sink hole) after a 10 minutes bike ride, snorkel with a life vest or do rappel in the cave. Eat traditional Mayan food in a small exotic Mayan restaurant in the middle of the jungle. $ 40.00 USD Leaves 8:00 AM, Returns: 17:30 PM. Days: Saturday and Sunday. A minimum of 4 passengers needed.

 

One of the New Seven Wonders: CHICHEN ITZA


Visit the wonderful Mayan World. Chichen Itza is a beautiful and enigmatic city that rises majestically from the jungle. It’s famous pyramid “el castillo” is both a temple and a three dimensional calendar which reveals a mysterious astronomic perfection. Its 365 steps represent a perfect calculation of a year made over a1000 years ago. During the equinox an amazing light and shade visual effect shows a snake coming down the pyramid staircase and hundreds of visitors from around the world gather to see it. Other monuments are worth to see such as the “Juego de Pelota” (Ball court ) or the sacred sink hole. After visiting the archeological site take a break to have lunch in a restaurant and have free time to buy souvenirs. ($35.00 USD) Leaves 9:00 AM, Returns: 17:30 PM. Days: Mond-Fri.

Note: If you want to be dropped in Cancun after the excursion at Chichen Itza it will be ($53.00 USD) Leaves 9:00 AM, Returns: 19:30 PM. Days: All week.

 
 

Izamal Tour


Visit the Colonial yellow city of Izamal. All its houses are painted in yellow. It is a tradition people is proud of. Tour the the old fashion way riding a “calesa” horse carriage. Visit the church built on top of a Mayan Pyramid, the market and climb the “kinich kakmo” an old pyramid which remains in the middle of the town. See how people make traditional handcrafts. Try Yucatecan cuisine specialties and eat fresh fruits. ($37.50 USD) Leaves 9:00 AM, Returns: 17:30 PM. Days: Wednesday and Sunday. Minors 4-10 years old only pay ($33 USD).

 
 

Sacred sink holes tour


Afterwards go wild and keep the adrenaline of the adventure high traveling on a platform buggy pulled by horses as you cross seven kilometers of interesting paths in the jungle. You’ll refresh then in the incredible clear blue water of underground caves and admire the impressing stalactite and stalagmite formations. ($37.50 USD) Leaves 9:00 AM, Returns: 17:00 PM. Days: Mond-Fri. Minors 4-10 years old only pay ( $33.00 USD ) No lunch included. Days: Wed, Fri, Sun.

 

The ancient city of Uxmal and Kabah


Explore the ancient city of Uxmal and Kabah dedicated to the god of rain “chaac”, walk through the paths and admire the architecture of the pyramids. Have a break time for dinner at the Mision Hotel in Uxmal where you can also take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool, stroll through the tropical gardens or simply relax in the cool breeze. Enjoy the light and sound show where you’ll hear Mayan Legends before returning to Merida. ($35.00 USD) Leaves 9:00 AM, Returns: 17:30 PM. Days: Every day.

Tulum and Playa del Carmen


Leave Merida early in the morning and visit the cliff-top Mayan city of Tulum on the Mexican Caribbean coast, swim in the clear blue waters and walk on the soft white sand. Go window-shopping on 5th Ave, eat in restaurants and go clubbing at night in Playa del Carmen. Dance, drink and have fun while looking at the moon and starts in front of the beach when you to the famous “blue parrot” or “Señor Frog” night clubs.
Over night stay in a 3 Stars Hotel, A/C rooms, shared bed rooms, private bathrooms, 2 blocks from the beach in Playa de Carmen. Bring your own beach towels. Entrance fees to the sites, nightclub covers, other meals, snacks and alcohol are not included. ($ 120.00 USD per person) Leave Saturday 8:00 AM (Lunch included), Return Sunday 17:30 PM (Breakfast included). Days: Saturday-Sunday. A minimum of 4 passengers needed.

 
 

Celestun Tour- All inclusive-


Visit this amazing ecological reserve. Take a two hour boat ride through the mangroves and admire the beautiful pink flamingos, and the “ojo de agua” a fresh water spring in the middle of the mangrove. Eat delicious seafood specialties. Relax, swim and listen to the birds singing, enjoy the blue sky and the feel cool breeze touching your face. All inclusive, lunch, boat, guide, A/C transportation, entrance fee ($47.50 USD) Leave 9:00 AM, Return: 17:30 PM. Days: Every day. Minors 4-10 years old only pay ($42.50 USD).

Beach bonfire and cooking class


After your morning classes and you’ll go to a tourist-free area where Mexicans build their summer homes. You’ll spend the day at leisure swimming, walking, sleeping or relaxing. Participate in the cooking class, learn how to make the delicious “shrimp ceviche” and surprise your family back home making this delicious dish yourself. Eat fresh seafood. In the evening we’ll gather around a bone fire and eat while listening to guitar music. ($35.00 USD) Leaves 9:00 AM, Returns: 21:00 PM. Days: Thursdays. Minors 4-10 years old only pay ($30.00 USD ).

 

Cultural Field Trip to the Market


The market is one of the most interesting places in Merida. You can buy clothes, spices for cooking, seafood, meat, flowers, fresh made tortillas, hand crafts etc. (Free for registered students)

 

Santa Lucia Park


Have morning classes and in the evening go to enjoy the traditional “trova” music and see the traditional Mayan dancing. Buy CDs with Mayan music as souvenirs for friends and family.

Cultural field trip to the flag monument


Visit the Imposing Monument to the Nation which has become another of Merida's icons, telling the history of Yucatan and Mexico on its sculptured stone. Afterwards swim in the refreshing blue crystal waters of Cenote “Yax-Ha”. (free for registered students)

 
 

Cultural field trip to the Hammock Town


Visit a Mayan family, learn how to weave a hammock, eat and cook the traditional delicious turkey or vegetarian “panuchos” and drink the sweet raise based beverage “horchata”, visit botanic garden. You will never forget this out of the main stream unique experience. ($25,00 USD)

Community Service Sunday: Tour to the Orange town


Plant fruit trees in the core of the Mayan community and help improve the world environment assuring the preservation of native trees which produce besides fruits for peoole, as well as oxygen for the planet. At the same time they reduce global warming. See how Mayans live. Meet a family($ 25.00 USD)

 

Community Service Tour, Dzilam Bravo or Celestun Ecological Reserve


Help to plant palm trees and participate in recycling plastic in one of the most important ecological reserves in Mexico. Dzilam Bravo and Celestun is home of flora and fauna unique in the world that makes it the ideal destination for ecotourism lovers. Take a two hour boat ride through the mangroves and admire the beautiful pink flamingos, and the “ojo de agua” a fresh water spring in the middle of the mangrove. Eat delicious seafood specialties. Relax, swim and listen to the birds singing, at night admire the stars in the sky and the feel cool breeze touching your face. A/C Van transportation, boat ride, guide and lunch included. Your donation will be used to buy resilient to hurricanes palm trees. You’ll plant one yourself before your boat ride to see the flamingos. ($45.00 USD) A minimum of 4 passengers needed.
